THE EFFECT OF CONTEXTUAL TEACHING AND LEARNING ON READING MOTIVATION

This study is an investigation the effect of Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach on developing English second semester students’ eight reading motivation dimension. The study aimed to compare conventional and CTL group eight reading motivation dimension achievement and gain before and after receiving different treatment of the study. The study employed in quasi experimental research. The cluster random sampling technique was used in choosing the participants of the study.

Abstract: Language skills can be improved through the application of CIRC learning models, and the procedure of CIRC includes: teacher presentation, team practice, individual practice, peer preassessment, additional practice and testing. Then the last one is various activities which they elements in the CIRC learning model such as (1) reading each other's stories with group friends, (2) conclude stories, (3) listen to stories, (4) retell stories that have been read and heard in oral and written forms, (5) play drama, (6) write, edit, revise, and publish poetry with group friends.

erjadi kegagalan dalam komunikasi antar pribadi menggambarkan bahwa suatu tindakan dan bentuk komunikasi baik verbal maupun non verbal tidak berjalan dengan maksimal. Agar gejala tersebut tidak terus berkembang, maka salah satu usaha yang dapat digunakan adalah konseling melalui pendekatan Analisis Transaksional. Analisis Transaksional menekankan pada aspek kognitif, rasional dan tingkah laku dari kepribadian. Disamping itu, pendekatan ini berorientasi pada peningkatan kesadaran sehingga konseli dapat membuat keputusan baru dan mengganti arah hidupnya.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: 1)mengetahui bentuk revitalitas naskah Syair Tale Haji didesa Sebukar Kabupaten Kerinci; 2)mengetahui peran Revitalitas Naskah Syair Tale Haji dalam menumbuhkan nilai kreatifitas masyarakat di desa Sebukar; dan3)mengetahui proses revitalitas Syair Tale Haji di desa Sebukar Kabupaten Kerinci. Berdasarkan data-data yang terkumpul di lapangan, maka penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian lapangan (Field Reseach) denganpendekatan kualitatif-deskriptif.

Abstract The purpose of this study was to explore the experience of eighteen students of English department of state Islamic institute of kerinci in producing single consonants silent letters of plosive /t/ and /d/ and liquid /l / in the middle of words, plosive /k/, and glide /w/ in the initial through surveys and semi-structured in-depth interviews.

MEASURING TEFL STUDENTS’ FOREIGN LANGUAGE CLASSROOM ANXIETY: A RASCH ANALYSIS APPROACH

This study sought to measures the foreign language classroom anxiety of the English Department students of a university in Indonesia and to compare the anxiety across independent demographic variables of gender and length of study at the department. The literature shows that foreign language learning anxiety affects one’s achievements in learning a foreign language. Data were collected through administration of the adapted version of Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale to 96 students selected through stratified random sampling technique.

The Effect of Contextual Teaching and Learning on Reading Comprehension

This study investigated the effect of contextual teaching and learning approach on students’ reading comprehension achievement. The quasi experimental design was employed in this study involving experimental and control groups. The experimental class received the contextual teaching and learning approach while the control class received the conventional approach. A multiple choice test was used as the research instrument to look at students’ reading comprehension. Data were analyzed through using the parametric levene statistic and non parametric tests.

Language Learning Strategies and Learner Autonomy: The Case of Indonesian Tertiary EFL Students

This study aimed at investigating the language learning strategies and autonomy of 76 Indonesian EFL university students and examining the correlations between the two. The Oxford's (1990) Strategy Inventory for Language Learning (SILL) for ESL/EFL learners was used to collect the data on students’ language learning strategy use and an adapted questionnaire developed by Chan et al. (2002) was used to assess students’ autonomy.

Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah hasil observasi yang menunjukkan bahwa ketrampilan berbicara siswa kelas VII MTsN 7 Kerinci masih rendah. Masih banyak siswa yang mengalami kesulitan dalam belajar bahasa Arab. Ketika gurunya mengajar siswanya masih banyak yang ribut, siswa juga masih banyak yang belum memahami materi yang disampaikan, siswa merasa malu ketika berbahasa Arab, kurangnya motivasi belajar bahasa Arab, dikarenakan metode yang digunakan membuat mereka cepat bosan dalam belajar.

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi bahwa di SMP At-Thayyibah Kerinci adalah sekolah umum yang latar belakangnya sebagai sekolah yang bernuansa Islami. Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan adanya pondok pesantren. Fokus dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Arab untuk kelas VII belum bisa terkendali secara baik, dikarenakan latar belakang sekolah dari siswa dan siswinya bukan lulusan dari MI. Banyak diantara peserta didik yang baru mengenal Bahasa Arab kemudian dalam pemikiran mereka bahwa bahasa Arab itu sulit dimengerti. Sehingga pembelajaran cenderung berjalan tidak efektif.
