Keywords: Number Head Together, Reading comprehension recount text Based in the researcher observation at the tenth grade of SMAN 9 Kerinci, the researcher finds some problems of students when reading English were firstly, students did not able to comprehend some texts. Secondly, the students did not able to answer some questions based on the text in the book. Thirdly, the researcher looks that most of students did not able to re- explained recount text which their read. Finally, the students did not able to make conclusion about text which their read.The purpose of this research was to find out whether there was significant effect of using number head together technique toward reading comprehension of recount text. Therefore, to see the significant effect the researcher analyzed data from the result of test that had been carried out. The result of post-test show the differences result achieved by the control class which was tough without using number head together technique with the experimental class which was tough by using number head together technique. The mean of control class was 60.77 and the standard deviation was 10.24 while the experimental class was 64.61 and standard deviation was 12.96. And after doing t-test, it was found that tobserve = 3.98 > ttable = 1,69. The finding showed that there was the significant effect of using number head together technique toward students ability in reading comprehension of recount text at the tenth grade of SMAN 9 Kerinci. thus, the teachers have to applying Number Head Together in teaching reading subject.
