Pendidikan Karakter

Based on a preliminary study that the ultimate purpose of Civic Education in primary schools should not only expected to shape the mora lcharacter of students, SD Islam Mutiara Al-Madani Sungai Penuh, should shape both its students’ cognitive and affective aspect, such as faith and piety. This is a qualitative study, in which the data is collected through interviews and observations. The participants of this study are fifth grade students of Al- Madani Elementary School. 

Character education is essentially an effort to develop the moral intelligence of students to behave noble (noble character). Thus forming efforts in the institutional character does not stop until the secondary level but it should be up to the college level.

The system is a unity or totality of a number of components or elements stand alone and work together and influence each other are focused on achieving a goal. As where education in general, Islamic education is a system or a totality that consists of several components that bersdiri own education, mutual cooperation and interplay focused on achieving the educational goals that have been set.

Masa Reformasi sebagai penanda runtuhnya kekuasaan Soeharto yang dibangun selama 32 tahun pada tahun 1998 mengakibatkan runtuhnya sistem politik, sosial, ekonomi, agama, bahkan budaya yang terbangun melalui usaha sadar maupun tidak sadar dalam rentang waktu 1966 – 1998 tersebut. Namun, di sisi lain, runtuhnya rezim Soeharto, justeru membangunkan sistem lama yang telah tenggelam, tepatnya, ditenggelamkan oleh pemerintahan Orde Baru.

Character Building is so important to discuss after the moral crisis that has happened a lot lately. In addition to, Indonesia lacks figures who can be used as a role model. That done because many public figures commited the crimes such as corruption, collusion, prostitution, and so on. Ibnu Miskawaih is one of the Islamic philosophers who touches on the concept of character education in his book tahzib al-akhlak wa tahir al-a'raf.

In general, the purposes of education in Indonesia is to build a character of students, but the fact tell a different version. Until now education in Indonesia still face a crisis in character. As example; found a student cheating, and lack of will to learning in school and at home, more than that we still found a criminalization, ect. A way to handle a problem of build the student character is with a modelling by personalities of counselor as educator.

Pendidikan yang diharapkan akan menjadi ujung tombak kemajuan bangsa pada kenyataannya belum sepenuhnya terwujud. Ribuan Pondok Pesantren yang tersebar di seluruh daerah di Indonesia juga belum mampu mengatasi masalah degradasi karakter yang optimal. Pendidikan karakter adalah fundamental dalam pembentukan kepribadian manusia dalam rangka menciptakan generasi yang menghasilkan Allah. Salah satu sekolah berasrama yang cukup berhasil membuat program hafalan kebijakan sebagai upaya penguatan pendidikan karakter yaitu Pesantren Al-Qur'an Ibnu Katsir Jember.
