Deskripsi/Abstract
The emergence of deviant gender expressions among men who behave like women has become a polemic in society, especially within homogeneous communities where the majority are Muslim. In such communities, religion and culture are seen as an inseparable unity. This phenomenon often leads to discrimination against transgender women (waria), who are considered to deviate from social norms, resulting in frequent rejection in official governmental and community forums.
Although counseling has been provided by the community, the transgender community remains firm in their principles and indifferent to societal responses. They place their reasoning and personal beliefs as the ultimate authority in their lives referred to as subjectical well being which makes their behavior difficult to change despite the various risks they may face. This study employs a qualitative approach with data collected through field interviews.
