THE STUDENTS’ DIFFICULTIES AND STRATEGIES IN INTERPRETING OF PODCAST FROM ENGLISH TO INDONESIAN AT THE SIXTH SEMESTER OF ENGLISH DEPARTMENT IAIN KERINCI IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2020/2021

This research discussed about the difficulties faced by students and strategies used by students at the sixth semester of English Department in interpreting podcast. This research used survey research design with quantitative approach. The population of this research was the students at the sixth semester of English Department and sample was selected by using total sampling technique with 51 respondents. In gathering the data the instrument of this research was questionnaire. Based on the results of the questionnaire, the results show that the students’ difficulties in interpreting podcast in non linguistics factors more prominent than linguistics factors. This was proven by the highest percentage of students difficulties was 62,7% in non linguistics factor and 36,4% the highest percentage of students difficulties in linguistics factor. Furthermore, the result of revealed the strategies used by the students to solve the difficulties, and the results showed that 46,8% students used dictionary in interpreting podcast and 42,8% students used preparations’ strategy in interpreting podcast. From this research, the researcher suggest that the teacher should select the most appropriate technique and method based on the students’ needs and give various practices to the students in interpreting of podcast
