The background of the problem of this thesis is the integrity of the family in addition to being seen from the presence of a father, mother and child, it can also be seen from the nature of the relationship or between family members with each other. Absence between father and mother, one of which is caused by death and divorce in a family, greatly affects the child. In this case, the importance of motivation in learning motivation is internal and external encouragement to students who are learning to make changes in behavior, generally with several indicators or supporting elements. The purposes of this study are (1) to find out how the condition of students who are broken home, (2) to find out what efforts have been made by the pie teacher. To achieve the above objectives, qualitative research approaches and phenomenology methods are used, namely research that describes the current conditions, data collection techniques used are interview, observation, and documentation methods. The results of this study are: (a) the learning motivation of broken home students at SMP Negeri 5 Sungai Penuh. Said it's still not enough. This can be seen from the way students are not serious about studying, fighting in class, sleeping in class, skipping school, not doing assignments, etc. (b) the role of Islamic religious education teachers in motivating students with broken home family conditions at SMP Negeri 5 Sungai Penuh City that the teacher Islamic religious education acts as: 1) providing guidance 2) creating a conducive and fun classroom atmosphere 3) providing an assessment. (c) obstacles in motivating students with broken home family conditions in SMP Negeri 5 Sungai Penuh, there are several factors that cause it, namely coming from students and coming from outside students (parents, community, school environment).
