Self-disclosure needs to be owned by students, especially in the first year
because it is a way to adapt to a new environment. This study aims to analyze
the synergy between lecturer's social competence on the formation of student
self-disclosure. The research method uses a quantitative approach with the
type of correlational research. The research population is all freshmen in the
first year. The research sample was 146 students. The sampling technique used
is cluster sampling. Data were collected using the Self Disclosure Scale which
is an adaptation and modification of the Jourard Self-Disclosure
Questionnaire and the Social Competency Scale which was compiled based on
the social competence aspect of Buss. The analysis technique used is simple
linear regression and two independent sample T-test to see the comparison
based on gender. The results showed that male students' self-disclosure was
different from female students' self-disclosure. Furthermore, the positive
relationship between lecturer's social competence competence and selfdisclosure shows that the higher the lectur
