Deskripsi/Abstract
Oral Corrective Feedback is an essential part of the learning process that
contributes to improving students‟ English speaking skills. It involves both
positive and negative feedback used to correct students‟ mistakes in using
language features that they have not yet mastered. This research aims to analyze
the types of oral corrective feedback used by English teachers in teaching
speaking at Senior High School 12 Kerinci and to investigate students‟ responses
to the feedback during the 2023/2024 academic year. This research uses a
descriptive qualitative method, and the data were collected through observation,
interviews, and documentation. After the data were collected, they were analyzed
to draw conclusions. The results show that not all types of corrective feedback are
suitable for all speaking aspects. Different types of feedback are more effective
depending on the nature of the students‟ speaking errors. Teachers need to provide
feedback that motivates students and improves their speaking performance. Oral
corrective feedback can be delivered either directly during speaking activities or
afterward, depending on the situation and the students‟ needs. Overall, students
responded positively to the feedback, as it helped them identify their mistakes and
develop their speaking skills.
